Bafana Ready For Jamaica
16 November 2009
Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Parreira will make some changes to his side when South Africa take on Jamaica in a friendly international match on Tuesday night (17 November). The match takes place at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. Kickoff is at 20h30. Defender Lucas Thwala will take the place of the injured Tsepo Masilela at leftback.
Masilela sustained an ankle injury in Saturday's (14 November) goalless draw against Japan at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Goalkeeper Moneeb Josephs will make way for Rowen Fernandez as Parreira attempts to have a closer look at other goal minders in his squad. Against Jamaica, the coach wants his players to demonstrate the same attitude they had when Bafana Bafana played against Japan.
“We need to show a positive attitude when we face Jamaica. Every opposition is important so we can't take Jamaica lightly – and so we would love to win to end the year in high spirits. But Jamaica will be a different opposition as they have a different style to that of Japan,” said Parreira.
Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena is optimistic of victory against the 69th ranked country in the world.
“We need to continue from where we left off against Japan. That was a tough match but the result we got there showed that we can really do it. The players are more positive now and with the high spirit in camp it would be wonderful to close the year with a win,” said Mokoena.
