14 November 2009

The South African Football Association (SAFA) is dismissing allegations in the media reports that Bafana Bafana team doctor Ephraim Nematswerani has been expelled from the Association. SAFA CEO Raymond Hack says Dr Nematswerani is a qualified sports Physician with an MMedSc degree; a member of SAFA in good standing who will continue to carry out his duties as assigned by the Association.

“Dr Nematshwerani is a valued member of the South African Football Association, his incredible experience in sports medicine has benefitted SAFA at all levels, he worked diligently with our Olympic squad and his progression to the Senior Men’s National team Bafana Bafana was inevitable, he has represented the Association in international medical conferences like the CAF Continental Course for African Sports Medicine Instructors and the FIFA Medical Instructional Course on Doping Control just to name but a few, his experience is invaluable to the Association," said Hack.

Dr Nematswerani says SAFA has clarified the matter through the CEO and he is looking forward to his next assignment in the Association. Among his participation in many professional institutions and organisations, Dr Nematswerani is also a member of the Medical and Anti Doping Commission of SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee).
